Squeezing your mates in the standing sections lower tier
I noticed it's getting more common for people to squeeze mates in the bottom standing sections when they presumably bought tickets elsewhere. Lots do it around where I am and sometimes ask if I mind. I have no problem with people doing it as I think it makes it feel more like the old terraces.

What's the general consensus though?

I had to ask someone to get a foot out of my standing space. I'm end of row with a step up at the end.

FFS!

Much as I resented having my ticket checked a few seasons back when entering the seated area this is exactly the problem they were trying to stop. I am in an area where this problem is rife but thankfully have not personally suffered with it too much as yet. It is wrong for so many reasons.

"The ones who buy the cheapest tickets in the stadium to save a few quid and then bowl down to find a better vantage point are taking the piss."

Someone said this earlier in the thread and I think it sums it up nicely. I'd say the vast majority who do this are in this category.

Try it on by all means but if asked to move by the real ticket holder you should oblige, especially if children are involved.

It won’t happen anywhere in the ground where people sit down.

Loads of places. Anywhere in the upper tier, for example.

I've heard this happens alot. It's a fucking piss take.
I want to take my wife and kids there, but not if this happens.
Is there anywhere in the ground where this is least likely to happen?

Re: Squeezing your mates in the standing sections lower tier
Slight variation on this- my seats are at the front of the upper tier. I find that sometimes (as happened on Thursday) if I'm a few minutes late for the game, some chancer has just come and sat in my seats.

I don't really give a shit if they move without making a fuss but it's a bit of a pisstake, especially if they do try and argue the point. People seem pretty entitled and selfish with it, these days.

I’m with Chester Rd on this annoys the piss out of me particularly at away games, fuck-off back to your own space.

Happens a lot in block 124 where i am behind the goal. i know we're west ham and all that but it does piss me off as does grown men giving w*nker sign to the opposition from the safety of their cordoned off block. maybe i'm getting too old and need to move to the halfway line :)

If I had bought a seat and some cunt was standing/or sitting in it and wouldn't move I would go fucking mental.

Re: Squeezing your mates in the standing sections lower tier
We had one or two on thursday standing in our row. They were in our seats when we arrived but move a little to let us in.

Usually it's not a problem as there are the odd sets spare but on a game like that it was rammed and it was quite tight and uncomfortable watching the game over shoulders.

Thought it was a bit selfish to be honest.

Re: Squeezing your mates in the standing sections lower tier
If it was just people letting a mate or 2 stand with them against where their seats seats are booked I wouldn’t have an issue, the seats spaces are quite wide and you can comfortably stand 3 people in the space of 2 seats without impacting anyone else.

But that’s not what’s happening, what’s happening is that selfish cunts are deciding that the seats they’ve booked are shit and because there is fuck all segregation or checking of tickets anymore once inside the ground they think it’s ok to relocate themselves from their shit cheaper seats at the back of the upper tier to more expensive seats behind the goal in the lower tier which other people have already booked which is when it kicks off. No one is going to be happy if they shelled out on band 3 seats only to find a group of people already in them who refuse to leave. It’s happened to me twice this season, first time they fucked off when told to do so, second time they didn’t so it got a bit silly

It’s all well and good saying it’s alright having additional people squeezing in but what about when it ends in fisticuffs like it did in Bolcks 131 and 136 on Thursday night.

if the club don't like it they should build a proper football ground where you don't need the same tech they use for discovering exo planets in the upper tier just to make out what's going on.

The title to this thread could have been put up on a Brighton forum and mean something completely different.
